The Office of Data and Accountability (ODA) exists to support teachers, principals and district leaders in their efforts to accelerate student achievement in schools. We provide reliable, timely information to teachers, principals, administrators, parents and students, and we help them use it appropriately. We value and support the continued professional growth of ODA staff and others by encouraging continuing learning through individual growth plans, quality training, mentoring and a collaborative work style.Reporting to a Program Manager, the Crystal Reports Writer/Database Report Writer Analyst will analyze data sources for the purpose of creating user-defined reports and/or report enhancements. This position will also collaborate and coordinate with unit level managers/users, compose a variety of collateral materials, develop programming processes and implement reporting processes and procedures as well as produce reports as required/requested.Other required qualifications include excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of constituents; self-starter with a good understanding and goal-oriented approach to problem solving; solid working knowledge in mathematics and quantitative methods.Responsibilities
  • Performs a wide variety of program planning and development as well as data collection and analysis activities
  • Reviews and analyzes performance measures and effectiveness of past and prospective programs
  • Conducts program and administrative interviews, surveys, data analyses, and cost analyses
  • Compiles relevant information and derives best practices for broader dissemination
  • Researches, develops, and composes position papers, special purpose reports, and other documents for use in presentations, program development, policy formulation, data processing, and other program-specific purposes
  • Designs and implements data preparation, processing, retrieval and storage systems
  • Provides technical support assistance for data capture and report generation or analysis efforts
  • Analyzes the compatibility of program requirements and implementation procedures
  • Synthesizes data, develops recommendations for identified problem areas, proposes short- and long-term system actions to implement, and implements plans under manager’s supervision
  • Produces reports as required/requested
  • Evaluates the likelihood and consequences of non-compliance and/or deficiencies in DCPS procedures and plans
  • Supports and carries out the Chancellor’s mission to transform DC Public Schools and close the achievement gap
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
